- is included in the school community, and their talents and needs are recognized and celebrated. Every individual is welcomed as a valued person who contributes to our school
- will study the full curriculum appropriate to their age, and take part in all the appropriate studies and activities planned for them
- has the opportunity to learn to play the recorder, usually from Year 3 onwards
- in Key Stage 2 has the opportunity to learn another musical instrument, such as guitar, violin, flute or clarinet
- is involved in PE, sport and games to a high standard, as recognised by the school's winning the national Activemark Award
- has the opportunity to learn to swim, during Key Stage 2, and with a minimum target of swimming one length, which is at least 25 metres
- has the opportunity to receive training in cycling proficiency, usually during Year 6
- has the opportunity to go on a residential trip for a week, usually in either Year 5 or Year 6
- from nursery to Year 6 has the opportunity to go out of school on visits to places of educational interest, according to the studies they are undertaking at the time
- has ready and immediate access to technology in the class, with their own personal filespace on the school computer network. The school has its own ICT suite and children use it on a daily basis, unlike in other schools where children may not get much time with ICT. Interactive whiteboards are used in classrooms
- has access to the Internet (adult supervised) and Emailing facilities
- has the opportunity to act, sing, play music, or otherwise take part in theatre and school plays
- has the opportunity to take part in a variety of clubs and activities, depending upon age and circumstances - country dancing, gardening, football, netball, cricket, athletics, choir, drama; and also to benefit from professional coaching when available in football, rugby and cricket
- has regular homework, and Key Stage 2 children can use the lunchtime homework club
- has the opportunity to take part in a variety of charitable works on behalf of good causes appropriate to children and our community
- is introduced to the Christian community of the parish of St James, Wetherby, and will have regular contact with the Church both socially and in their studies.
