School uniform
The governors ask all parents to ensure that their children wear school uniform which is as follows:-
Navy blue jumper or cardigan. All children should wear the navy blue school jumper or cardigan which carries the school name and badge embroidered in gold. These are available through the school office at a very reasonable price.
Standard grey trousers, shorts or skirt. Pinafore dresses or dark blue checked gingham dresses are acceptable. (Summer dresses available through school office).
Standard blue or white shirt or blouse. Please fit your child with a plain blue or white shirt/blouse and not polo necks, tee-shirts or other varieties.
Footwear
All children are required to wear indoor pumps, not trainers or slippers. Black pumps are available through the school office. Shoe soles should not mark floors. We suggest that young children at least should wear shoes that have velcro fastenings or slip-ons. Laced shoes at any age should be easily removed and put on.
For outdoors we recommend sensible school shoes. Trainers are accepted as long as they are conventional or modest. Please do not put your child in boots, fancy footwear, or anything that is too fashionable or noticeable.
Other kit & equipment
All books and writing materials will be provided in school. Clear plastic zip bags can be bought in school. These are very useful for carrying materials to and fro and enable you to see clearly when your child is bringing a letter home! You can also get sturdier blue plastic bags for books etc. Please make sure that your child's school bag is not too big, as there is not much space in the cloakrooms. Drawstring bags for shoes or PE kit are available in the office.
For PE your child will need school PE kit, which is a white badged T-shirt and navy shorts (available through the school office). Outdoor games such as football or netball will sometimes need more robust clothing or footwear. Jewellery and personal valuables other than watches are not allowed in school.
For swimming in Key Stage 2 all children require towels. Boys should wear swimming trunks, not shorts, and girls should wear one piece costumes. Children will not be allowed to swim in bermudas or bikinis. Your child's indoor shoes, mentioned above, should be kept in a drawstring bag.
We also provide small handtowels in classrooms for handwashing; you do not have to provide these.
Please mark or label clearly all clothing, kit and equipment with your child's name. If you do not do this your child's clothing will almost certainly be lost and not identified. A lost property box is kept in school and you are welcome to look through it at the end of school.
Toys and Games
Children are allowed to bring the following to school:
a small cheap toy that fits in the pocket, something for a game such as a skipping rope or ball, fruit to eat at morning break.
Children are not allowed to bring:
their own bags (reading folders and PE bags are sufficient), big, expensive or electronic toys, sweets, pencil bags and own stationery, mobile phones
Water and healthy eating
Water is now recognised as essential for the healthy working of the brain and good learning. Water bottles can be purchased from the office and every child is expected to have one
We encourage children to bring healthy snacks to school, mostly fruit or similar bars.
